<<That would be a big mistake!People see Mr. Six on TV and think of Six Flags. Great ad campaign.>>
Terrible ad campaign.
If Six Flags is supposed to be about "Family Fun and Fond Memories", there should be a concept of a Six Flags experience that is promoted. The ad campaigns should be focused on families having fun at Six Flags parks.
The parks should be clean and attractive and not be dumping grounds for unsupervised teenagers with season passes.
From a marketing standpoint, you want to create character icons that can be placed on lunchboxes and backpacks and t-shirts. What child wants a backpack with a creepy old man on it?
Mr. Six was introduced in 2004 and attendance fell. Kieran Burke blamed the weather.
In 2005, attendance was up and the weather was better. Kieran Burke said it was the Mr. Six campaign.
For a theme park, the marketing campaigns should be built around characters and themes that can be licensed and merchandised to create additional revenue streams.
