I have heard that if I put my shares up for sale (at some really high unrealistic price)then the stock brokers can't use my stock for short selling? That would'Nt let the shorts use my stock, right?
Yes, providing you have a margin account; otherwise your shares were never borrowed.By placing a limit order you are removing those shares from the table so taht no one can boerrow them to short.
