In today's Plain Dealer there was a complete run down on the best companies and places to work in the Cleveland area. It is based on submissions by the employees of the various companies, local key people and a judging group. Nowhere to be found was any mention of Parker Hannifin or any of it's locations. That is disappointing to say the least as Parker has always been known to be a people company and the former CEO and major owner, Pat Parker (deceased) established that attitude within the compny. I worked there for 35 years and have been retired for the past eleven. During my period I can only say it was a great company to work for and I felt, was in fact a people oriented company good to it's employees. Longivity in all positions attributes to that as well as the fact that management grew up in the company. As I said it was disappointing not to find Parker included in the list of excellent companies to work for. Perhaps present employees don't realize nor appreciate what they have. Or just maybe the Public Relations Department missed the boat on this one.
I agree, as I spent most of my career with Parker and found it was a very family oriented Company. I have been gone for many years as with the other old timers. I just wonder if the changing of the guard also changed the attitude. Totally different culture in business today.
I also spent 27 yrs. at Parker until I retired nearly 3 yrs. ago. The last 7 yrs. things started to change. Was no longer a people company. I still go to the plant for Thinksgiving and Christmas lunch each year and the people tell how things have changed for the worse. I had a great job and thank Parker for what I have but sure glad I'm out. The company has sure changed and all for the worse!
