    buy out

What about comment that management will be heading into retirement over the next year or so? Couldn't that affect things?

    • JA and the boys would sell out for less than top dollar after spending their lives building it? I was not saying they wouldn't sell, just not for a small premium.

      • Although I met JA once a number of years ago, I certainly don't know him or any of his top exec's. My comment before was on the comments I have seen on this board and from some friends that work or have worked at BBT which inicated that his top exec's in particular have said they would like to retire in the next few years. Now, like any hear say, who knows how accurate this is, but I have heard it in a number of different places so I wonder if there may not be some truth to it. I don't think anyone would say they haven't earned a rest. But, no, I don't have this as a hard fact that I can point to and have never claimed such.

As for my opinion on whether or not JA would sell out for a "small premium" - I never said that either. I think BBT would go for a large premium if it were "purchased", but I doubt that is going to happen - not that many left big enough to do so that would gain from the exercise. My guess is that they will arange another "merger of equals" that may be more of a true "equals" this time. That would let the exec's ride off into the sunset, feeling like they had not really sold out. As for JA, based on what I have read and heard, I suspect that he wants to die at his desk if he can't retire to Gault's Gulch, so I think this will make the above senerio more difficult. I really do think it will happen however, at some point. And I do not think this will benefit the shareholders, at least not in my more predictably shortening life time (over 65 and you begin to focus on reality better - just life - that's all).

'Course, all the above is merely my guess or fourth hand knowledge, and, as I've said before, no one in there right mind would make any kind of investment decision based on the above or anything else you read on these Boards. This is just for fun!

And yes, they are at my "sell a little bit" tagret of $38-40 again, and I am taking profits.
