If you have owned BBT for 20 years you have been rewarded! Depending on how you got it (merger or direct) your cost basis could be mid to high one digit!
Calculate your dividend based on cost and figure your tax if you sell. Unless you are in IRA, where are you going to put what's left after the substatial tax bite that has the same dividend and (long term) potential? Sell out is just a matter of time...
Agreed: BBT has been a puppy the last few years but if, like me, you have about 6 bucks in the stock, think long and hard before you sell. You are getting maybe a 16-20% dividnd on your investment, yes?
i acquired my shares around the end of 1981(would have to look it up) by way of a merger. The S&L i owned was eventually bought out. The shares are up 1800%. The dividend is paying 64%. My cost is around 2 dollars a share. Most people don't believe that. My only regret is that i didn't have more to invest at the time.
I think you are correct. True this stock has not gone any where for the past 5 years, but if JA continues his take overs, and no major disasters occur, the price of this stock HAS to make a dramatic increase.
The pressure has been on as of March 2003 and nothing yet. getting tired of seeing my money go nowhere fast... Don't really care about all the mergers with BBT ins and BBT bank. Just want my money to go up a litttle bit. Got till the end of the year and if it does not go over 41, good bye..
