    curious about latest acquistion

As a new BB&T follower, I'm wondering if there are any thoughts that BB&T increased thier FL holdings in an effort to entice a buyer? BB&T Management does not seem to be able to increase the stock price on thier own; perhaps someone else could who wants a piece of the FL and fast growing SE markets (i.e. USB, WFC, ONE)?

    Any thought?

    • justjeckin,

In answer to your question about BBT being bought out. There were several messages a month or so ago on this subject and the majority agreed that a buy out was highly unlikely.

Most of the posters agreed that the top executives had to big an ego and were not about to give up such a good pay deal for them.
There is no reason for top management to want to deal under the present circumstances.

Check out the pay of the top six executives for the last few years verus the total return to the shareholders. Executives have done very well and the shareholders have gotten the table scraps. Why would the top executives give up this kind of deal?

      Yours for better investing,

      Jim

    • Talked with an employee last week and it all sucks. Customers and employees of FVB are rude, obnoxious, and use a lot of profanity, They all need to understand, the little people dont have any sayso in squat, & shouldn't be held accoutable for it either. They are just earning a payck the hard way, and a small one at that.
