BBT will continue to weather this storm better than most and when the dust all settles, BBT will have the value to grow the footprint. Market caps are as low as they have been in years, weaker banks will get acquired. I do see BBT doing mergers and being on the buying side.
Real hard times for some means great opportunities for others.
rubbersucker so stupid, wants others to do her research for her. rubbersucker born loser. hint: check the merger history and if you understand it you may learn something, or not because rubbersucker so stupid.
the bank buying will be done by banks with a stronger currency. bbt will probably be bought because it is strong, not the other way around. with no equity, what will this us banks use for money. you need to realize that these banks are not returning to the same level of business they once had!!
I beleive BBT has indicated a solid increas of around 9% in its activity recently.... So I wonder where you get your information that they will not have the same activity as in the past? If it is an opinion then you shoukd state it as an opinion.
Upheaval does creat opportunities. The question is does JA want to try and take on a "large" bank which can be much more challenging to intergrate or will he continue to pick up more moderate size institutions that have worked well in increasing the BB&T footprint in the past.
Only a guess, But I would think BBT would stay to the smaller regional players/community players. That has been where they have had success in the past..sticking with what they know how to do seems to work just fine for this bank.
