BB&T Corporation Message Board

    For Your Attention!

As I indicated in my response to the previous message - it is my opinion that Kelly king just told the world that he anticipates that BB&T will earn $3.20 to $3.24 a share in 2011. This agrees with Norm Lasky's estimates that he provided to us on 11/24/2010 - and those estimates appear to be right on the money.

To date most of the Wall Street analysts are acting like a bunch of sleeping dunces. I am not certain when they will awake.

    • No, I don't think CEO King told the world anything except that the Fed had agreed for BB&T to move forward with the miniscule dividend increase announced. Publicly-traded companies, such as BB&T, have a duty to correct material misinformation in the market place. I am confident that if BB&T Management believed that the consensus analysts estimates of $1.70 per share were less than half of the expected 2011 EPS that you believe was signaled by this $.01 per share increase in quarterly dividends (as you are implying using $3.20 to $3.24) BB&T would have a duty to publicly correct this information.

Unfortunately you are wrong - BB&T management has no such duty to correct this information, as I believe you will realize with the release of their earnings later this year. The release of the first quarter earnings should provide us with greater insight. If you are a shareholder, I think you will be happily surprised. Time will tell of course.
