As much as I dislike Kelly King's management style, I believe he manages the best regional bank franchise in the country. Anyone that believes that BB&T stock is over-priced relative to other banking institutions, doesn't understand banking. Yes ,Kelly King is somewhat devious ( my personal belief), he is paid far more than he his worth (again my belief), and it is certain that the bank has at least twice the number of directors required; nevertheless, it is my belief that BB&T stock will be an outstanding performer over the next three years. For those that are non-believers, please keep selling your shares. Near term, I have no idea what price action to expect; however, for the patient investors, it is my ferment belief that you will be more than amply rewarded.
jcbrowns, I'm a small (a few thousand shares), but long time investor, and just curious what makes you believe the above. I do believe that bank stock are undervalued and will gain over the next few years to come.
Please take a look at the latest 10K filing - the facts are indicated in that report. Additionally, please consider that B&T's region of service is in the fastest growing area of the US, the dividend is material, secure and may be raised in the near future - and Kelly King, although somewhat devious with his earnings reports did not get himself or the bank involved in some of the corrupt practices that were prevalent with many other competitors.
My opinion is that you should continue to hold your shares. I consider them to be undervalued by at least 15% - and possibly more. Good luck to you.
