Thanks for your info. BBK is a good bank period. Great customer service, great product line, excellent management. I think they are brilliant to be expanding into insurance and other types of financil services. BBT splitting is of no concern to me. The stock price keeps rising anyway.
The vision Allison and others have laid out can be found in the letter to shareholders from the annual report. It talks about his vision for growth and his wanting to keep BBT "independent."
This bank has come a long way, and will go very far in the future.
I had the pleasure of having Allison visit my school and sit in on one of my MBA classes less than a month ago. Among many questions we asked him was with the many planned acquisitions and recent growth of BB&T and with their stock price rising was a split in the works. The answer was not in the near future. However, Allison is big on stock options as pay and incentives so the possibility of creating more shares to cover exercising of options could neccesitate the creation of more shares.
My advice is don't worry about a split but just get on board and watch this FI grow as it fills the niche of customer oriented banks during all these big bank mergers offering impersonal or automated customer service.
I suppose that I am snake bit. After the news yesterday about the bank/insurance merger eveyone said that the banks would reflect this and go up. BB&T is the largest insurance outfit in the Carolinas, is probably the best bank in both states, and the stock went down 1 & 1/8 th this morning. IT WILL RETURN however.
First Virginia is holding out big time, like Crestar. Ca't blame them though, get the best price.
Someone asked about Walkoveryou, First Union, and Nations. I live in Virginia. Go to a BBT branch, ask some questions, and then go to one of the other three. There is no comparison. Customers do not like the assembly line set up of the other banks. BBT treats you real good.
Remnember I said 70. We are almost there. This company is hot, and they are NOT selling. ALLISON is going to make this a real company. Another buyout coming soon for the BBT'ers.
