I believe that BBK will re focus on VA banks. Belief at BBK is that the mega mergers change the game again. Their performance has been great, but may be hard to sustain. Y2K is more exensive that most thought it would be and this will hurt BBK and others for the next two years. I don't think they will come up here (north of VA), but I doubt that they will focus on TN now. I would guess that Crestar and BB&T are renewing discussions - even if they don't wind up together. They are an obvious match if they can get past the social issues. Come on guys, CEO of something is better than CEO of nothing! (OK, perhaps Glenn Orr's $1.6 million/year for the rest of his life is better than nothing!) If BBK doesn't do something soon, the interest in the stock may dwindle and the "darlin'" of the South may take a slight tumble (we've already seen this somewhat), but this may be a good buying opportunity. I still like the stock, but the run is over for a while.
