    • If BB & T likes Fla. they should take a look at BBX with 70 branches and worth 3 billons with earnings at 70 cents a share.

    • Sir Allison has no intention of selling out BB&T right now. It ain't going to happen.

I still hear rumours that crestar shareholders are revolting against sti...

    • How about telling us the sources for these rumors if they are to be believed?

    • I have heard BB&T is going to purchase PBKS soon. I have also heard that BB&T will be bought out in 18 months to 2 years.

    • I was surprised to see your prediction about
moving south when we still have a great deal of
unfinished business up north... turning our backs on VA at
this point would be like building a house and deciding
at the last minute to leave off the roof. I believe
we are well on our way to building an extremely
attractive and signifigant market position in this important
state and FVB is the icing on the cake. BB$T can afford
to pay a signifigant premium for an in market
acqusition of this nature simply because of the enormous
cost savings and cross selling opportunities that
would follow. It would be a shame if we wind up losing
this franchise to Wachovia particularly when they
represent the last show in town (VA).

    • No I don't have the inside scoop, but I think
that ASO is a good marriage for BBK. I've said that
before, but I think that all the fluff is now knocked out
of both stocks (well, maybe a little more than fluff
      - stuffing maybe?) and a merger announcement would
not be seen as a negative. Great management in both
banks, but different magt. styles. A true MOE with
shared ownership would greatly benefit both banks. Great
market coverage and enough clout to survive and continue
with their basic philosophies - which are not that far
      apart.

Maybe wishful thinking, but I think the blow - off in
prices offers real value swap and less chance for
downside if any initial problems. Wake up CEO's, you've
got a real opportunity to hit a home run (sorry, all
this M. Mac stuff is catching!).

      You heard it
here first (or second or whatever!)

      Regards.

    • Hay Doc, are you OK? We're worried about you. Its just $ after all.

      • Good evening my good man!

        Yes I am here.
There has not been much to discuss lately. All banks
are getting hammered (but you gotta check out the
CF-STI board, they still are not happy with the proposed
acqusition of CF), so we don't have too much to smile
        about.

A young lady friend of mine is retiring next year
from her sales job (she is 63), and we were discussing
her latest stock purchases and I convinced her to buy
our beloved BB&T!!!! Her broker wanted her to buy JP
Morgan, but I told her to look in her own backyard, and
wala! It was a BB&T! She is sold because "the branches
        are nicely kept up." Whatever....

        Since we
don't have much to discuss, have you seen any of those
BB&T commercials. Very nicely done, not pushy. Not
that glizzty crap. I commend their marketing team on
        those professional spots.

        I got hammered this
week. My AOL, lets not talk about it. My Capital one,
no lets move on. My Lucent, no thats a bad subject.
My Travellers, no lets not go there. My INTEL, yik!
What a horrible past couple of weeks. Anyone else had
        one of those?

        Dr. JunJun
