    BB&T Employment

I am considering an employment opportunity with
BB&T. I want to know what current employees think about
the Company and their areas of operation. How do
these areas compare to the competition (small, large
banks and nonbanks). How well do retail/commercial
lending, commercial RE lending, the branch system, Trust
and Investments perform. Bank customers who care to
comment and provide their perspective are welcome and it
is appreciated.Thank you for your input. EOM.

    • First, I am new to this Message board but I
thouroughly enjoy all comments. I started with SNB 9 yrs ago,
and went through the MOE. I left BB&T for a position
closer home and was hired by UCB. Then BB&T got me
again. Since I've been with BB&T, I have LOVED my job
and everyone within my dept. In my area, everyone
treats you like an adult. Even then upper managent takes
time several times a week to stop by and have informal
chats. I am proud to call myself a BB&T employee.

    • would be fools to respond to a message such as
      this......IMHO.

Also, if you are a real banker, much of what you
request is already available in public
research...........it jsut takes some effort on your part to find
      it.

Also, I am sure that BBTFan will be happy to give you
his lengthy perspective as both a customer and an
      employee.......just ask him.

Good luck in your job search.

      • If I were the Evil HR Director, Yahoo would make
it difficult to get pass the alias, so I do not
think those that respond are foolish. The public
research/info sometimes has more spin than the posts. The
perspective of the battle is much different on the front line
than back at the Officer's Club over a G&T. I want
front line info as opposed to the nice, pretty people
that smile at me and tell me how great everything is
in the world.Based upon the bluntness/frankness of
your post, opinions like yours tend to be the most
valuable as opposed to the "Tell them what they want to
hear" and Rah Rah types, i.e. public research info and
BSers, etc. If you have some information that you want
to share, I am appreciative. I am a real (and a very
good) banker and sincere in requesting information.
Thank you for your interest in responding to my
        original post and for the Luck. PS Excuse the ignorance;
what is "IMHO"? And if you are goofing on me, I rather
        remain ignorant. EMO

      • But I will respond.

        I am a recently
"displaced" FTU contractor. I came on board w/ BBT on 3/15.
The comapany seems to treat its employees better than
anyplace I have seen. I thought that same of FTU, for what
that is worth, but this is better yet. Employees are
treated as professionals and with dignity as people. The
managers in my department seemed sincerely happy to have
me as a part of the department. The training is
        thorough and pleasant.

        Other employees appear to be
happy, without any complaining or whining. The benefit
package is excellent, as far as I am concerned.

One caveat - expect to be held responsible for what
you are given to read. No one will read it to you . I
was glad to see this, but those that enjoy going to
meetings and being read to from a piece of paper that you
        are given will be disappointed.

        As in any
investment, you are investing your life and time, do your own
due dilligence and don't just take the word of
        someone on a message board.

    • BB&T is an excellent company to work for and do business with. Excellent performing loan portfolio and the #1 small business lender as rated by the SBA. Jump on the opportunity.
