For a great way to watch a
specific industry, go to http://www.wirehouse.com/ and
look on the right hand column for the link to the
banks, fin services, investment, Nasdaq 100, and the
internet stocks (first and second tier). You can see who
is moving and why. The center column has the stocks
on the move. It is up to date even for the recent
IPOs. There is also information on the site about
internet IPO fundamentals. They respond to comments and
suggestions quickly. The searches page has many useful
applications as well.
They are offering free issues
of business magazines such as Forbes, Money,
Fortune, Barrons etc.. to people who visit the site. Just
look on the bottom.
is down over $2 [about 8%] this
morning.........in a generally "up" market. Has its acquisition by
BBT been called off......and Matewan management is
selling shares while there is still a reasonable price
for them ?
This board has been very quiet
lately. Perhaps the BBT employees who post to this board
have been busy doing due diligence in Williamson, WV.
I wonder if they stayed at The Sycamore Motel ?
There have been a lot of cars over there lately.
about what BBT may, or may not, announce on Wed. or Thurs. regarding the problems at Matewan ? Do you think Allison will proceed, at a lower price, maybe, or kill the whole deal ?
I think Sporkdoogle originlly brought up the
subject of Ayn Rand.......alluding to Allison refering
somewher to her great wworks. Someone with the modest name
of "New Intellectual" and I were merely trying to
answer a question posed by Sporkdoogle.
am wondering the status of the proposed acquisition
of Matewan. My recolelction is that resolution is
supposed to happen in late April, but i don't remember the
date. Perhaps what Atilla the huneee was trying to tell
us, well, maybe we should have listened.
I know I'm just an old engineer who didn't have
much high falooten larn'in, but do we care who Ayn
Rand is? Or maybe a better question is, should we
care? Frankly, I don't care if Mr. Allison is a devotee
of Mother Goose, whatever he's doing seems to be
working and working well, so go ahead John. Be a radical
right-winger, or efete snob, or whatever (remember, Spiro was
from here and we loved him!) or whatever turns you on
- JUST KEEP THE PRICE OF BBT GOING UP!
the way, what's happening in WVA? Sounds like that
deal may not happen as originally planed. Frankly, I
think that would be a good thing. IMHO, couldn't see
that one fitting in, but they have proven me wrong
Where is everyone? Doc???
Thought you loyal BB&T shareholders might be
interested in checking out the message boards for PBKS and
CNIT, apparently there is a proxy battle going on at
both of these institutions designed to encourage
management to sell out to the highest bidder...the buyer of
choice seems to be your beloved BB&T...we're ready when
you are, come and get us.
