UBS upgraded IBM (NYSE: IBM) from Neutral to Buy with a price target of $235 (from $210). The upgrade relates to analysts views on cloud and 'IT-as-a-service'.

"We think IBM is well positioned for the coming computing era because (1) integrated vendors do well early in a tech transition; (2) most of the near-term action will be in private cloud, IBM’s strength; and (3) IBM's hosting capability and support of OpenStack will be helpful later in the wave," wrote analysts.

UBS thinks IBM is well on its way to beating $20 EPS in 2015. Analyst said they have increased confidence in IBM's leadership and think it increasingly could be compared to non-tech names

    • Those were good points by the UBS analyst. But wasn't it from April?

It's still valid but ACN is another example of the global slow down of IT spending.

      • Here's today's comments from UBS:

"Friday, June 28, 10:24 AM ET
UBS and Raymond James downgrade Accenture (ACN -13.2%) following an FQ3 revenue miss market by light consulting sales/orders, and soft guidance. UBS' Steve Milunovich, who now rates shares Neutral: "With Oracle and Accenture missing, enterprise demand appears to remain weak, which probably means a soft earnings season for large computer names." He thinks IBM (IBM -2.8%) could still deliver 2H services growth due to less consulting exposure and strong orders, but believes risk has grown. (FQ3 results/call: I, II, III) (CC transcript) "

    • yup , BUT .. even if earnings go over $30 .. the share price is still set in the market by investor sentiment ...
my guess is that IBM will hit 235-240 , but it will be a grind up process ...
if IBM should ever decide to really leverage their patent library , then watch out ...
