I saw a video where the IBM Medical Director announced that IBM can no longer afford the same medical plans for retirees. I was promised paid medical benefits after retirement when I was hired in 1964. That promise is broken. Maybe new leadership at the top is needed instead of cost cutting?
it is entirely possible that the 'new' policy applies only to those newly hired........it's also possible the medical benefit to which you allude you are eligible, is/was available to you till age 65 when you are eligible for medicare......at least this is the way most corporate plans are written.
Hired in 1964. 20 years old at the time? Would make you 69 yrs old today. Medicare eligible for the last four years. If you retired from IBM after 25 years, you would have earned guaranteed medical benefits however diminished from the time that you hired on. You would also be paying a monthly medical premium. Somehow it doesn't seem that you stuck around long enough for all of this.
