Anyone take anything away from the analyst day? Down day, down for market, but it sure seems like nothing real big was talked about at the meeting. Kind of same ole same ole.
I saw a quote where CEO said something along the lines that "Revenue growth was not a high priority." That seems amazingly tone deaf, even if it is accurate. Couldn't she say "we'll pursue high quality revenue in targeted sectors, blah blah....". As I saw in one of the investment blurbs "What ever happened to IBM Sales Culture?".
IBM is likely doing a lot of the right things, but they sure seem to have lost the aggressive hustle they used to have. They seem to be tilting more and more to a buy back the stock financial vehicle vs a product driven company these days. And they/we get the PE to match. They have become a really dull company it seems. As a former IBM'r, it is hard to believe that they actually get more boring over time. Ha!
Good luck, still holding a small position myself, but last 2 years are pretty sad.
Cloud, cloud, cloud. Watson, Watson, Watson. Big Data, big data, big data. Social, social, social.
Did I miss anything? Oh yeah...there was an infrastructure and a natural resource used a couple times.
