You must not be a regular to this board as you would know the split information has been a very frequent topic here. IBM Splits are usually announced after 4th quarter earnings. Then voted on by stockholders at Annual meeting in April. Splits occur most generally in May or June. Probably 2:1 but could be 3:1 if IBM uses it's latest $4B debt registration structure to finance an acquisition. But could also be used to repay debt, investments in or extensions of credit to subsidiaries, redemption of preferred stock or new business expansion.
Seems like an interesting development!! Just have to wait and see but think there are big things for BIG BLUE on the horizon!!!
Actually, I have to admit I got in at the low last year, and have debated selling for a huge profit. But, it is tough to cash in when I have done so well and it has looked as if it may be split this year. (3:1 would be nice, but I expect to win no matter what happens. I only wish I could have bought more when I did!)
10-4 on wishing you could have bought more! I've got $150K, waiting to stuff when it gets back around $100 per share.
Don't know if you have your $$$'s in brokerage account or 401K or Certificates but if you can justify the cost of selling and then rebuying, this stock is a relatively safe stock to have as a long term strategy. Don't know if you've owned IBM thru a split yet but history would dictate a large runup after announcement followed by some vaselation during the approaching weeks. Then after the split, if will runup about 10%...that's the beauty of the split...more investors jumping in at lower prices. Good Luck & Go Blue
