would you be willing to explain the significance of this? I am ignorant... other than I get the fact that the well is producing significant amounts... But are there othr wells nearby? is it indicative of the promise for future wells nearby? how shall it affect earnings?
bknski, I'll give it a shot. When a well comes off "confidential" it will give you information, not only on that particular well, but also can offer clues as to how the operator (here Halcon) is doing in that particular field. Every field is different and has its own challenges. There is a learning curve to discover what completion techniques are working and which are not. This particular well (#24255) is located near Four Bears Village. The map coordinates are 47.991278,-102.627522 if you want to look it up. The cryptic note quoted from the "milliondollarway" website doesn't tell the whole story in that the 44K+ barrels of oil is for only 42 days of production in April and May 2013 (since production is just getting started); not a full two months. I also want to point out that I took a quick look at the production numbers for ALL Halcon's other wells in the Four Bears field and I did not see ANY well that did any better for that period of time (i.e. the first 60 days of production). This tells me that this well is a very good well for them and hopefully they can leverage that knowledge on the other wells in this field. More information: Halcon currently has 20 wells in Four Bears, 8 of which are still in "confidential" status.
