Is anyone here actually underwater on their investment?
I really would be surprised if you were especially you who have been here for a while it would be pretty hard to be down and if you are then wow cause you have had lots of chances to buy these a lot lower. So in that vein why the anger? Of course I don't like the Govt nor their handling of Fnma or what the the #$%$ congress is proposing...who does except for Big Banks the real culprits but as far as investments go this one has provided a ton of opportunity to do quite well these past 4 years...anger is just an emotion that will not help you on any level especially in investing. I am purely asking from an investment angle. I have owned them under a buck and now over a buck and both holdings have done better then many of my investments these past 4 years and happy to have had the chance to make a nice ROI. If you owned them before the meltdown then I understand...if not then I dont...GL to us all and lets hope justice prevails but in the meantime chill...life is short. Peace
The price we paid is irrelevant. If you got a great deal on a new car, (say 10,000 less than msrp) and someone stole it, does that bring your car back? The government is taking fannie sharholders property (dividends), regardless of the amount we paid for shares..if we paid $60 or if we paid .26 or anywhere in between. The government's position is that your shares are worthless so give them to us, so that we may profit from them.
