Due to falling stock - or increasing CEO salaries.. the employees are being exploited.. they do not pay overtime neither do they increase salaries of hardworking employees.
See link below..they were even caught of authorities in europe for underpayment of salary below min wage..
Apparently, the article was published Mar 29, 2010 and CSC was sending Indian IT workers to Denmark prior to 2010. Well that explains why CSC stated a 4.5 billion loss on Sept 2011 primarily from the Nordic Region (Denmark and Australia). When will CSC ever learn that even though you can put lipstick on a pig, it will still be a pig.
Restructuring at CSC is happening with no regard to experience, talent, leadership or value of the individual to CSC. Excellent skills and knowledge are walking out the door. The new organization will be lean and mean but will have little clue how to service our clients.. CSC is turning into another walmart kind of organization where they have no value for employees. An employee is just a number here.. not a human being
Since when has INDIA been part of Europe ? To understand how multi national companies work, you really do need to understand a bit about geography and the different cultures and communities outside USA.
Since when have salaries in Europe equaled those in India? To understand finances, you really have to know the cost of living which is dirt poor in India. Increases shareholder value too!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Poor little Indians feel "exploited" by the IT sector.
The ones I have worked with (and currently work with) - have to work 10 - 12 hours a day to get as much work done CORRECTLY as most US resources can get done in 2 - 3 hours. Work quality of the Indian resources I have been "blessed" to work with over the past 10 years is less than what I would expect from a programmer straight out of school. And that includes those that have been with CSC for 5 or 6 years.
Absolutely NO initiative. Absolutely NO willingness to learn something new. Absolutely no idea how, or care to learn, how to debug and correct problems. Absolutely no idea how to test their own code.
And they feel exploited? Give me a break. The ones being exploited are the US resources who are either losing their jobs because Indians are being paid less - even though they can't do the job - or those who are having to do their work, plus the Indian's work, in an effort to provide adequate support to the client.
Exploited? When you learn how to do your job at a level expected of any professional, you can come back and whine about being exploited. Until you do, you aren't being exploited - you are STEALING from the client for taking pay for doing lackluster, subpar, work.
The one thing they ARE being exploited for is low wages and cruelly used by a government, on both sides, that encourages outsourcing because of that very fact. I would love to see energetic, smart Indians at work, and there indeed are very good ones there as they are here and also morons everywhere too. American workers are exploited by different measures, such as keeping you on the CSC payroll for, oh, 1 year while your brain is cleaned of all information BEFORE India comes into the picture and you are given the heave-ho.
You're going to have to be more specific. Are you referring to:
1. Habitually low pay raises (0-3%) for 2-3 years followed by a 10% pay cut - thus driving the employee's pay asymptotically below the starting point?
2. Requiring employees, exempt and non-exempt alike, to work more than 40 hours a week w/o overtime?
3. Requiring employees to use up a plurality of vacation in the fiscal 4th quarter - also known as winter?
4. Putting employees on unpaid furloughs of one to two weeks?
5. Or some other employee exploitation?
