    • book value is meaningless 2 a potential acquirer (of a few shares or the entire company) unless assets, liabilities & open contract balances r rigorously marked 2 mkt

who's going to aquire it??? the are bleeding cash.. prob 1m a day... they have n/building's being built which cant be cancelled... and were contracted at much higher numbers then could be done today.. so in 2 years they will have vlcc's which cost $130m (not sure of exact price), in the market competing against brand new vlcc's which cost $100 (odd)million..

now there is no business... i mean no business (unless maybe if u are a drug dealer) that can turn on a dime and make u many..many fortunes as fast as shipping can.... and ... osg was/is one finely run company... but the bottom line is shipping rates sux... don't see the light at the end of the tunnel.. and they have lots and lots of new and expensive ships.

      • if you sell off all assets and put them against liabilities, the current book value is 40 - 50 (how ever you want to calculate it)

meaning, the company is worth more than current share prices...

not to mention 10mil shares short out of a 22mil float?

      • it can't last forever, commercial buildings had the same trough for a period during the melt down, but now are doing extremely well. General growth properties dropped to 38 cents and fell into the banks, was taken over for 12. per share and now worth 3 times that...book value of 40 maybe a high number today, but considering how much they have already depreciated, older companies have alot of assets no longer on the books due to being totally written off. 10 is a steal for this co, certainly the two directors think so being they have paid more than 20plus per share average and the new ceo has options priced at 22.50 p share if the co is taken over. They certainly know more than us

    • read the last 10Q, current 40 is book, but how this can be so cheap is just beyond me...
