This is an understatment, currently they are only producing 3M gallons a year.

You are right. A single plant will not be enough. but a few comments:
1- cellulosic technology as installed in Oregon is an ADDED process step to yield 10% from the same corn and / or take in a different feed.
2- Back in the plannig phase ( 1Q08), the statement was made that this could be replicated in other PEIX plants.
Now, would you know it? If the pilot is a success, and with stimulus funds, other plants can be modified!!
This is a good one. I hear Obama has set aside funds for building renewable energy infrastructure and ecosystem. So far, I know it's in the form of tax rebates for people installing solar panels.
I will go find out if portions of the funds is allocated for ethanol.
one year of college chemistry should tell you that cellulosic ethanol is very doubtful technically and extremely doubtful economically. Good luck suckers!
I have taken General Chem 1&2, Organic Chem 1&2 and Physical Chem and microbiolgy. And 2 more years of chemistry research on bio-diesel from edible oil. Nothing in it tell me that cellulosic ethanol is impossible.
I had General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Researched Chemistry, taken all the cehmistry classes University had to offer, and worked on bio-diesel research from renewable resources for my Master thesis. I also had micro biology. Microbs are amazing organism.
I not only think this is possible. It will become reality.

settle down. Cellulosic is 10-infinity years away. Besides, even if it could be done, you'd have to produce 400,000,000 gallons a DAY. Then, the cost of refining cellulosic would result in $10/gallon ethanol.

POET started Pilot plant this year.
People have a vested interest in oil know the politician in power is on the Ethanol side.
