Rediff.com Moves to Second-Quarter Profit; Shares Jump More Than 20 Percent
NEW YORK (AP) -- Rediff.com India Ltd. posted a sizable profit for its fiscal second quarter on Monday, reversing a year-ago loss.
American depositary shares of the Indian Internet portal jumped $3.20, or 21.2 percent, to $18.32 in morning trading on the Nasdaq. Over the past 52 weeks, its shares have bounced around between $5.52 and $18.50.
For the three months ended Sept. 30, Rediff earned $307,000, or $1.16 per U.S. share, compared with a year-ago loss of $381,000. Rediff did not provide a comparable per-share figure for the 2004 period.
Revenue grew 44 percent to $4.4 million from $3 million. The company said growth was driven by a nearly 90 percent jump in revenue from its India Online operation.
