    a voting issue ?

As a viking shareholder and a sold out HTE owner I am not thrilled. I might consider just voting no. I like the high yield. As long as they would of continued to pay I would of been happy. Vote is in 2006 first quarter. Anyone see a compelling reason to vote yes (as a vik. holder ) ?

    • The way I read the email to Viking posts, sustainability is dependent on the price of oil (and gas). If you believe oil will stabilize at $55 or lower, then you are right to believe Vikings dividend will go down. In hindsight, last September they probably should not have raised the dividend as much.

Im not exactly sure when Zahary joined Viking, but I do know that after he joined, Viking stopped declining, performance improved, analysts became more positive, and the price of the stock went up significantly. Thats why I believe Zahary is qualified to lead the HTE/Viking combo. I own both Viking and HTE, and will vote yes on both ballots.

Read the post "I wrote an e-mail to Viking"
The e-mail reply virtually admits the distribution is unsustainable.
Then if you cannot interpet the post read a responding post "I wrote an e-mail to Viking,
part 1". In this article Viking literally admits the distribution is unsustainable.

Since you have been in the trust sector
this long you know where trusts go that cut
distributions, especially ones where the mngmnt appears to know prior to the hike
      the situation is unsustainable.

I have already notified HTE I will be voting against putting the VKR hucksters in charge.

    • I bought my Viking position from Nov. 03 to Feb 04. My share price is up 83%. Add the dividends, and my return is greater than 100%!

Can someone tell me what's wrong with Vikings CEO? I'm for this merger!

    • Yes I remember the Advantage head fake distribution increase and so do many others as the trust has never been the same since!!!!

    • "I bought Viking after the 50% jump in distributions just 3 months ago after the CEO said the distribution would be sustained at the new rate well into the future!!!

      He lied to me "

It sounds like he went to school and took lessons from the Advantage Energy "boys".

    • My take on this merger is much the same as yours is as a former Viking holder!

I bought Viking after the 50% jump in distributions just 3 months ago after the CEO said the distribution would be sustained at the new rate well into the future!!!

      He lied to me

    • <It is a SELLOUT of VKR's shareholders so the CEO of VKR can run a bigger company.>

I don't own Viking, but I do own Harvest. I sold half my Harvest when I noticed that the CEO of Viking is taking over.

If it is a bad deal for Viking, it is probably a good deal for Harvest shareholders financially. However, if the CEO of Viking would screw over the shareholders so he can run a bigger company, he can certainly screw over all the shareholders in the merged company if it advantageous to him.

Had the CEO of Harvest retained control after the merger, I wouldn't have sold any shares.

      Please read my post again.

      "...VKR management. A management who's
      track record is entirely underwhelming,
although, I will agree they are better
      than the previous Viking team."

The only thing this management team has
done was increase the distribution an unsustainable 50% and therefore get a nice
pop in the unit price. Do we have to
bring up the shenanigans of AVN's
      mangmnt.

    • Now we see who really has a clue on this board, everyone please take a notice that phoenix773 has posted a few more bs messages, but had no brain cells to answer these basic fundamental questions about CanRoys. Just ignore him, he is vocal but clueless.

For the record my largest position is also HTE and I am not very excited about this deal, but see where it can benefit Harvest. I firmly believe that Viking unit holders are getting a better deal than Harvest unit holders. And it is comical how they complain about a coming distribution cut which was obviously coming after the last distribution icrease. Viking simply had no cashflow to finance development of their reserves.

I am not too concerned about the President change since the Harvest management team is still in place. I guess if this was a clear bail out of Viking by Harvest Jacob would have stayed the President.

    • You seem to have forgotten that indeed VKR had very poor management a few years back but the management in place now which replaced the old team did a fantastic job of turning Viking around to date!
