EVERYONE is replacable unless they are Kobe, Seaver, Marino or Dale.
What utter nonsense going on here. Case will be settled for pennies on the dollar IF it has merit.
Geez, look at Walmart, it has yet another multibillion sex discrimination lawsuit this week but all these suits end up settling years later for tiny amounts.

Clearly they are not going to get punitive damages. Obviously. At most they'll get what they say they deserve, which was around $100M.
It makes a nice headline. Hey I'm not exactly bullish here, but I'm also not biased enough to go around screaming, "ZOMG, half a billion!!!!" Attacking me for pointing out the truth is pointless. -

The attrition from Infinity Ward is pretty big. Especially if they end up playing for the other team (ERTS).
The litigation itself has less consequence. But losing the "talented" developers to a competitor is not good.

Put it this way, you don't see Electronic Arts' stock price skyrocketing just because they signed the IW guys. That's because a good creative team does not guarantee a smash hit just as the loss of said talent does not mean Activision's franchise is doomed. Treyarch can easily step in and develop a totally serviceable Modern Warfare sequel and 90% of the gaming population probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. In the end, the situation is bad for Activision because it creates a lot of uncertainty and it's a PR nightmare, but it hasn't yet affected their bottom line nor would you expect it to anytime in the near future.

Every one of those movies was a HUGE blockbuster, except for the Abyss - which at least turned a profit. Where's the flop? Where's the risk? -

It may be nothing, it may be something. One thing I know for sure is to never invest with your head in the sand. A toxic atmosphere can spill over into other studios. I'd rather the developers enjoy their work and be motivated to make great games, rather than have them work to rule and produce shovelware. I'd rather ATVI get their act together and keep their people happy or things could blowup. Will they blow up? Probably not. It doesn't make sense to ignore something that can hurt your investment. Compared to the revenue that the 2 dozen contributed to the company, most of the other 7000 generated diddly.

Call of Duty MW 2 sold as well as it did because it rode the back bone of, what 6 previous CoD games, in the francise. CoD MW 2 did not sell 15 plus copies in isolation. You numb nutz forget this. The hardcore PC community knows who the studios are but most consolers and "casual gamers" for sure couldn't give a shit about who developed what. I could make the next modern warfare game a huge seller...what the masses want at this point is pretty easy to see.
I suspect there is a few ex-IW trolls on this board posting right now.
