Harken Energy Corporation (HEC) Message Board

    Look at Jr. Players

If you like Harken you should also look at Jr. players in Colombia International Rochester and Parkcrest(PKC.AL) both grea buys especially at these levels HUGE upside potential regarding Parkcrest they also just bought Colombia Hydrocarbons owned by the individual who helped Seven Seas make the Emerald Mountain discovery and they plan on signing an association contract with Ecopetrol in the Magdelina Basin giving Parkcrest 500,000 acres.

Also look at Tri-Valley Oil & Gas TRIL they are the second biggest natural gas producers in California and as of Jan. 1 the
energy market in Calif. is deregulated. Tri Valley has a subsideiry which is pusuing electric power companies so they can buy one
and then sell the electricity . Also they are potentionally siting on the biggerst gas find in California est. 300bbcf, which if
it is even at 100 would make Tri Valley the number 1 gas company in Calif. ahead of Arveda Hess. They are trading at around
$1.05-1.10. Great buying opportunity, the Sugar Hill well results will be in around end of Jan. befinning of Feb. take a look at them
    and their news.

Alot of analyst are hedging against the oil stocks and moving into natural gas stocks so its worth a look.

    Any input?

    • Hi caplan9

      I'm into Harken.

I'm really big on Tri-Valley Gas, plan to round up my number of shares on Monday to 10,000. Just in case you not following TRIL as closely I am, they just past the 10,000 ft mark on they way down to the stated goal of 12,300 ft.

Drilling results for Sugar Holly #1 could be in by the end of the this month. Time is running out for high reward/high risk money. the stock is now at 1.07/share.

Roy Chiesa over on the SI's thread estimates the value of TRIL if there is a big find:

If Tril hits a 300 billion cu ft pool, that would be :

300,000,000 thousand cubic feet at $3 per thousand cubic feet (or maybe much more if converted to electricity)which comes to $900 million and assuming TRIL's interest to be 30 percent and at 18 million shares, that could result in a book value increase of $15 per share??????

Anyone is welcome to correct the math............

I beleive the reason Roy throws in the converted to electricity angle is that Tri-Valley is also in the gas fired power plant business. Could be great combination in coming deregulation era.

IMO this is a HIGH RISK opportunity to turn $10,000 to $100,000K in a very short time frame, next 60 days. But hey I might be going down im flames. I'm risking about 10% of net worth.

My usual disclaimer, do your research before investing. Roy's $3 per cubic ft I believe is high, since gas in now selling for approx $2 per thou cubic ft currently. I believe he is averaging up as the gas will sell over an extended time in to the future at higher than current prices.

    • you should know that in the fifties they drld. shallow. hec is going horz., in vert. fractured resv. and know where the oil bearing formations are because of the old oil co.'s previous wk.
      Caplan......hype, hype,hype

    • Galveston Bay has been heavily explored, thus, the reportedly
1 TCF find by TransTexas is quite a feat. 1 TCF x $2 per mcf
implies $2 billion in potential future revenues - not too
shabby, huh? 8 billion bbls. x $20 per bbl. implies $160
billion in potential future revenues, which is the amount some
on this board just matter-of-factly attribute to HEC acreage
in Columbia. Somebody's either inhaling, or blowing smoke - which do you think it is? The probably of HEC finding $160 billion in oil is about the same as me winning the Texas
      lottery.

      Oilperson ;-)

    • Please read messages on this board regarding Parkcrest Explorations, a great play and cheap, HUGE upside potential especially beinged aligned with Harken and now putting together a deal so they can go it alnoe with Colombian Hydrocarbons in Colombia, GREAT management!! Read news (PKC.AL)

Regarding TRIL, yes I own the stock, think there is great upside potential short and long term, they are positioning themselves properly in the deregulated electricity market of Claifornia. Even if they dont hit a 300 billion find they will still move up based on their reserves and future drilling schedule, even if it is a 100 billion find that will still produce alot of interest.

Also, take a look at a company called Cabec Energy CBNR very cheap, but about to move BIG volume at low price .18-.25 cents but about to merge with the only plastic pallet company in US gain a prorated increase in shares of 40%, they are spinning off the energy company, read news.

If interested a great analysis site is WSRN.COM take a look. I think we will all know if Harken is for real in the next 1-2 months!

    • Their n.tract is updip on the emarld mtn. prospect, could contain 2x the reserves of sev's. their southerly prospect on emarld mtn. may be downdip. their catalina wells are the first horzt. wells in colombia to test a known vertically fractured field,(this was a field disc. in the 50's/60's). Their acre position is the third largest. They HAVE FOuR TIMES THE ACRE POSITION of SEAVEN SEAS, AND A PIPELINE being built to carry production from estero, and a better cash position.
the leverage of major disc. is in hec, they still have 93% of these high profile prospects, and have the drilling paid for.

    • overvalued or undervalued? upside potential vs. downside potential

I see the upside potential of $13.29. what is the downside if dry holes occur on key offsets to seven seas acreage ($3?)

Does HEC think their acreage is already in the column of oil that SEV has drilled with their downdip wells? the map i see in
the opp. report and SEV's annual report indicates some probalbly does.(a billion? i don't know?) it appears their acreage is
flank acreage and the higher part of the structure is on SEV's acreage. they should make some wells but they may have limited
acreage unless SEV can be successful past their 1168' column they have established with el segundo #2-e. if HEC highest structural
point is below this point they have no oil.(unless subsequent sev wells downdip are good) what ever acreage they have above this
structural point is good to this date. i just need a good structural map and i could tell you.(working on it)
have you seen HEC's structural map ?

      HEC(97)NAV is correct?

if anyone has other comparisons please post them

if you like exploration plays I think MOXY(McMoran) is a very nice play
lots of cash, good prospects offshore, proven past history, early stage of development, fields to come on line this year,Bass family of dallas just bought 5% of company, Gerald R.Ford(made list of '97 gift givers) bought over $3M of stock last year(trading at 3.5)two year play

I'm interested in other undervalued companies or ones with speculative upside potential

hope i've added to your overall outlook on HEC
I'm currently updating myself on HEC as I've devoted all my energy on SEV. I do think colombia is going to be good stock speculation over the next two years with a number of cos. if you like exploration plays.

    • about the time i get caught caught up in this colombian play and buy three more stocks, there will be an announcement that there really is no oil-the whole thing is a money laundering sceme for cartels cocaine.believe ill just hold hec and pray.

    • How well explored would you presume Galveston Bay to have been? In the Wall Street Journal this morning is a story about a "natural-gas gusher" by TTG. I am not a knowledgeable oil person in any technical sense, so I would like to hear if this discovery is a valid indication of the possibilities of new technology finding significant reserves in previously worked acreages.
