    Well I'm glad it's actually yellow. I completely understand your points Richard. You and your colleagues' persistence is pretty compelling, but I think you're again looking for problems without analyzing the underlying issues here. It's to be expected that dry-weight measurement would lead to an out of wack production cost if you ignore the underlying issue: the cost per unit of the animal product is less than the cost per unit of the plant product; this is probably because the 35 percent stated fulvic acid in the animal product likely cost the same as the 5 percent in the liquid ... I know it sounds odd, but this could be due to tertiary refining for the liquid OR (more likely) the difference in fulvic acid measurements for liquid and powder. Like I said man, it's ridiculous that there isn't a unified measurement method for liquid/powder, but that's the way the industry operates. I'm no chemist, but it's probably a matter of solubility.

    • jonathan: I can't see how the cost per unit of the animal product can be less than the cost per unit of the plant product. Particularly since the animal product has 7x the concentration of fulvic acid, and particularly since the extraction process is identical:

      According to the patents, there is no tertiary refining of the liquid - just adding a few cheap NPK ingredients (20% of content weight) and a few microelements. In fact, the drying of the fulvic acid for the animal product may be associated with higher costs.

      Note also that a "unified measurement method" is unnecessary - Yongye's patents are very detailed - they list the exact steps, materials, and proportions in the process of extraction of fulvic acid and then in the process of mixing it with the other ingredients. Solubility is exactly the same for both the crop and the animal products - the fulvic acid in both is produced using identical process and materials, according to the patents.

      As a result, fulvic acid costs about $40,000/ton (truly high-end, just as Yongye says), and Yongye's animal product, which contains 40% of it, costs at least $16,000 a ton. No way around it! Neat and devastating, as I have been saying.
