Walmart to take loss on gasoline to try and get shoppers in their store

Things must really be bad when you resort to selling gasoline at a loss because people are not coming in your store and hope this will make them park and walk in. This has been tried before and people just buy the gas and leave which leaves the company with a loss.

Are you for real? Your knowledge of retail would not fill a thimble..

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • Yeah, it doesn't work, LOL. The stores doing this are just plain stupid right?

"Other retailers have offered lower-priced gasoline in the past. Last year, Kroger Co (KR.N), the country's largest traditional grocer, extended its summer gasoline discount promotion through the end of the year in 25 states after customers said they wanted the program to last longer."

"Warehouse clubs Costco Wholesale Corp, Wal-Mart's Sam's Club and BJ's Wholesale Club also monitor prices at nearby stations and try to match or undercut them to lure drivers."

    • You have to walk in to buy the gift card. They have done this before.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy
