I think there's enough business for poly AND thin film to go around for the next twenty years. The sad thing is, after their usable life of around twenty years, or less when new silicone technology finally supplants CdTe, thin film panels will get dumped into landfills where they'll poison the water table for the next 100 years. (or... Maybe GE can store them with their spent nuclear fuel rods, if we all haven't mutated into frogs by then!)
GE has a failed history with solar and have constantly picked losers. They claim to have been in the solar business since 2006. Interesting how they forgot they purchased AstroPower in 2004 and sold that off last year for a big loss. Then they were looking seriously at CIGS. Now CdTe ? I guess they have no interest in success. Primestar is a joke. I know several people that worked there and left. Abound is going to kill Primestar.
