    This is only partially accurate, palmspringscopper.

    Some component of MLP distributions can be considered return of capital. It depends on the specific MLP, and how long you have held your units and what your basis is (and this can be impacted by reinvesting distributions or continued buying).
    I don't like speaking in generalities, but in general, a large portion (70-90%) of MLP distributions will be considered a return of capital for most investors, but it is unlikely that 100% of the distributions would be considered return of capital.
