Everything you say may be true except the 15% tax part. NRP's distributions are almost entirely tax-deferred return of capital, reducing your tax basis, and when you sell, the gain (hopefully a gain) is part 15% capital gain and part ordinary income, taxed at whatever your tax bracket might be.
