    Really depressing!

Forecast from Bank America/ Mer analyst this week was the most damning for the coal industry. Others, "Time for coal to Retire" (Motley Fools) and last night "Has the Coal Barge Sunk" (Ruben Brewer - Motley Fools).
Brewer has the best analysis. Says that ACI, ANR, And WLT are going the way of JRCC (bankruptcy). Also says that NRP has too much debt. The problem is with met coal. ACI, ANR and WLT are losing money on this business and hoping for a turnaround.
Coal news continues to be bad. Natural gas prices have more than doubled over the past few months. Thermal coal prices have moved up enough to allow miners to barely survive. The EPA is likely to wipe out those miners with tighter emissions standards this summer.
COAL COMPANY CEOs ARE TO BLAME FOR THE ABOVE. Most are sitting on their hands and hoping that things will get better.
