(Market related) What is unknown about president-elect Obama? (1)

Since this post has become three posts, and the current thread is labyrinthine, I'm making this a new topic. I'm replying to your post "Re: (Market-related topic) The multiple births of Obama (2)" (196903) of 3:33 PM yesterday, at

    >>I haven't a clue but his mother was an American citizen of sufficient age and residence status for her son to be an American citizen (wherever he was born).<<

Without realizing it was happening, I burrowed down into some connections last night, one that surprised me very much. Remember A+f+r+i+c+a+n  P+r+e+s+s  I+n+t+e+r+n+a+t+i+o+n+a+l  has been saying it has a tape of Michelle Obama's outburst? I'm still following that saga closely, skimming through the hundreds of readers' comments as well as reading the site's articles. A couple of the recent relevant articles seemed off the wall to me, but I don't know whether journalists in the African culture sometimes relate things in a different literary genre when they want to report something guardedly. Do you know?

And, in case this should turn out to be relevant later, I think A+P+I's editor Korir is Kenyan. At the least, he has been in Kenya. A+P+I is in Norway.

Anyway, last night A+P+I posted a startling article, and a link in the readers' comments led to another link, and that led to another, and I found myself back BEFORE Square One. Square One was a Canadian Press article — "According to Michelle Obama, the fix is already in" — by Canadian Press's editor, Judi McLeod. She was reporting an article at A+P+I. I had read McLeod's article in mid October and saved it, not realizing its full import. In fact, when I told you about the article back then in October, my focus was the possible connection between Obama's cousin Raila Odinga and Jerome Corsi's detention in Nairobi, and Michelle's relevant comments. I had not bothered to click on McLeod's link to A+P+I's article.

This is most of A+P+I's original version (emphasis added):

    <
Shocking development: Mrs Obama decides enough is enough: “My husband was born in Hawaii and adopted by his step father, does that make him unpatriotic; she asks”, on a direct telephone to A+P+I.

Posted by africanpress on October 15, 2008

Accusing A+P+I of colluding with American internet bloggers in an effort to bring down her husband, Mrs Obama said she decided to call A+P+I because of what she termed, A+P+I’s help to spread rumours created by American bloggers and other racist media outlets in their efforts to damage a black man’s name, saying she hopes African Media was mature enough to be in the front to give unwavering support to her husband, a man Africans should identify themselves with.

    • >> . . . So it appears (to me) that Obama knowingly and willfully withheld the truth.<<

Even if he did it's not likely to come back and bite him.

      >> . . .is Obama reputed to be a spiritual descendant of Honest Abe or of cherry-tree-axer George Washington? Or is his character believed to be more like that of the people he has chosen for his friends, allies, and guides? . . .<<

Friends, allies and guides, but even though they are terrorists, crooks, and socialists it has not been held against him. They called Reagan teflon, this guy is a phantom.

      >>Do you think that's a possibility [that Obama got into college as a foreign student]?<<

      Could be, makes sense.

      >>Maybe he really believed he had only one name, his birth name. The rest were just nicknames or names others called him, or gave him, not his official name or the name he wanted to go by. He might not have been lying just asserting himself.<<

I see where you're coming from. And there was a place for that kind of answer. The State Bar application's _first_ question was "Full Licensed Name." That wording is much closer to "Official name" or "Name you want to go by."

It was the second question that asked for "Full Former name(s)" and that was the place for any and all names other than his currently legal name. During most of his years (maybe all?) in Indonesia, his _legal_ name was Barry Soetoro (instead of Barry Obama) because his stepfather's surname was Soetoro.

      >>Perhaps because he did not choose, like, or proffer that name as his own, but merely got stuck with it by a stepparent.<<

That circumstance could easily be true. He might have resented being forced to change his surname, especially since it was the name of his dad and mom. Even an adopted pet must go through some psychological trauma when it loses its familiar name and must respond to a different one. But the Illinois State Bar did not offer an option for protest, it directed Obama to state his "Full former name(s)." So it appears (to me) that Obama knowingly and willfully withheld the truth.

Another factor to consider, is Obama reputed to be a spiritual descendant of Honest Abe or of cherry-tree-axer George Washington? Or is his character believed to be more like that of the people he has chosen for his friends, allies, and guides? There is also some question regarding his Selective Service form, but I haven't looked into that yet.

Since, at the time he applied for his state bar (1991), he was already politically inclined at age thirty, and in 1990 had become the FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN PRESIDENT of the Harvard Law Review . . . AND would be teaching CONSTITUTIONAL LAW in 1992 . . . I speculate Barry Obama Soetoro Obama was looking ahead and preparing for possibilities and was keenly aware of the Constitution's requirement for the first African American President of the United States.

I've been meaning to relay to you a speculation I read at the Rosettasister blog. We've been wondering what Obama doesn't want anyone to see in his college records. RS blogger Foxtrot had this idea:

<I also believe the reason Obama won’t allow his college files to be opened is the fact he applied as an “Indonesian citizen”. He said himself that his grades were not that good. The only way a kid, with crappy grades, could get into those kind of schools was to fulfill an “international” quota that most schools have. . . . He already told us he had crummy grades, so he can’t be afraid of us seeing that. . . .>

Do you think that's a possibility?

    • >> . . . But the major point is that Obama committed perjury. The question is Why.<<

Maybe he really believed he had only one name, his birth name. The rest were just nicknames or names others called him, or gave him, not his official name or the name he wanted to go by. He might not have been lying just asserting himself.

      >> . . . For what reason do you think Obama wanted to keep HIDDEN the name by which he was known as an Indonesian CITIZEN (by virtue of his alleged adoption)?<<

Perhaps because he did not choose, like, or proffer that name as his own, but merely got stuck with it by a stepparent.

    • >>And if the downward spiral continues? Do those last bastions crash, too?<<

No. More likely we would get hyperinflation and $100K would be worth $100 in a trice.

      >>Joe Duarte, a market pro for years, is now unable to predict. And I don't remember ever finding him so pessimistic:<<

      Good sign.

      >>Right now the Messiah is steering clear (no pun intended) of the automakers' rescue talks. What leadership he is exhibiting!<<

He wants the crisis. Rahm Emanel said so yesterday . . . a crisis is an oppportunity, they can get stuff done that would have been impossible otherwise. Look for them to push hard for dramatic government programs and not give a fig for the market.

    • >> . . . did you read somewhere that (according to a poll?) about 90% of the military planned to vote for McCain? . . .<<

I read 74% somewhere, which sounds more realistic.

      >>The only office from which that could bar him at that time was the presidency. I can't believe a kid registering for college would have considered that (or even known that). As it turned ot they changed the law so it didn't matter at all.<<

Oops, that Indonesian grade school registration is, for the moment, mucking up Obama's later State Bar registration.

When Obama was registered in the Indonesian grade school as Barry Soetoro, he was only 5 or 6 years old, and the AP photograph of the registration document indicates that his stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, is the one who registered little Barry Soetoro (aka Barack Obama). The only reason I brought that registration into the picture is that it later CONFLICTS with Obama's State Bar registration.

Fast forward to 1991. Little Barry is all growed up, has graduated from Harvard Law School, and is now 30 years old. He applies to the Illinois State Bar for his license to practice law. Despite lawyer jokes, state bar applicants are supposed to tell the truth. The Illinois State Bar application asked Barack Obama aka Barry Soetoro to list his "FULL FORMER name(s)" but this habitual concealer-of-vitae listed only his full PRESENT name — Barack Hussein Obama. Moreover, according to Philip Berg, Obama had some other aliases. I just found online Berg's statement about Obama's State Bar application:

      <
      36. Further investigation led to Obama’s State Bar Registration and Public Disciplinary Record. On the Illinois State Bar Registration and Public Disciplinary Record it specifically asks for “Full former name(s). Obama put “None,” when in fact he went by the name Barry Soetoro, and Barry Obama. It is further believed Obama has used the name Barry Dunham. Obama lied on the State government form that he signed under the penalty of perjury.

Dunham, you might recall, was the maiden name of Obama's mother. But the major point is that Obama committed perjury. The question is Why.

Having already become, at age 29, the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review (which could certainly ignite a dream of becoming the first African American president of the United States), and, four years after obtaining his state bar, running for (and being elected to) the Illinois State Senate, it appears Obama had political aspirations when he told the Illinois State Bar that he had no former names. He also taught constitutional law in 1992.

      >>I don't think perjury even enters into it . . . whoever wrote that [The truth is, Barack Obama was born in the state of Hawaii in 1961, a native citizen of the United States of America.] wasn't under oath.<<

I didn't realize perjury could occur only under oath. But now there's clear evidence that in applying for a license to practice law, Barack Obama did perjure himself . . . when he was an adult and already involving himself in politics. For what reason do you think Obama wanted to keep HIDDEN the name by which he was known as an Indonesian CITIZEN (by virtue of his alleged adoption)?

      >>I don't think so, but I shock myself by not being able to give an absolute no. Your bank account and CDs and MM accounts are insured until next October by the FDIC for $250K (then it goes back to $100K). <<

And if the downward spiral continues? Do those last bastions crash, too?

      >>I don't have any idea what is going to happen. This thing could go on for years, or be over by the end of next year. We might get deflation, or we might get inflation. Interest rates should remain low but if we get inflation they'll soar. The value of the dollar might fall but the rest of the world is as bad off as we are, maybe worse, so the dollar might rise. <<

Yesterday I read somewhere that the more valuable dollar hurts Akamai, and the article said something about 30% of Akamai's business, but I don't remember whether that 30% is global or US based. An article dated 2 November says:

      <
By region, revenue in North America grew 18% y-o-y and 2% q-o-q. International sales, which accounted for 26%, grew 36% but decreased by $2 million sequentially due to a stronger dollar. The strengthening dollar could take off about $4 to $6 million from Q4 revenue.
      >

The author also says that Level 3 is Akamai's main rival(!) and linked to "how Level3’s aggressive pricing strategy impacted Akamai last year."

No tears from me for GS!

Joe Duarte, a market pro for years, is now unable to predict. And I don't remember ever finding him so pessimistic:

      <
. . . This time is different, as things get worse on a day to day basis, and no matter how bleak things get, it seems as if they can get more bleak tomorrow, and the next day.

The bottom has proven to be more elusive than ever, as the new lows in the S & P 500 on November 19 proved. And it's pointless to keep predicting one, as the usual indicators don't work any more.

. . . Hold on to your cash, hold on to your job, save your money and see what happens. It's plausible to think that this could be the start of that final cleansing that eventually leads to a bottom. But don't bet on it, because at this point, we are really in uncharted waters.

      >>If Obama does the cap and trade thing or sets the EPA loose on CO2 polluters as he promises to do, or if he raises capital gains taxes, or almost any taxes, if he pushes hard for the union card check, things will get worse. >>Yes I saw that. It was a commissioned poll from some group who did a smaller poll of Obama voters to determine their knowledge and who were so surprised by the results they commissioned Zogby to do a larger poll (which came up with about the same results), hence the no McCain questions. <<

Thanks for that background. I didn't know about it.

      >>Obama was elected on emotion, pure and simple. It really was an American Idol election, at least for Obama voters.<<

And polls weighted down by ACORN's massive fraudulent voter registrations, registering some people multiple times (via bribes), registering "Mickey Mouse," a football team, countless dead bodies. That's one reason I call the election a coup. As you already know, the whole point of those massive registrations was to discourage the anti-Obama vote, convince McCain-Palin voters they should stay home and not waste their time and energy on a done deal. Obama might have 'won' the election, but he cannot be truly proud of his 'win' because it was . . . well, remember, too, some Black Panther members strutting around outside a polling place, to strike fear in people who wanted to vote for any of Obama's opposition?

And don't you think early voting took its toll? AP has reported that on Election Day itself McCain-Palin won Florida.

Before the election, did you read somewhere that (according to a poll?) about 90% of the military planned to vote for McCain? I haven't seen anything since about the military count. Have you learned from any source how the military voted?

They can and do (reneg), I've had it happen to me, though I got the interest up to the date they cancelled the CD (if I remember correctly it had a couple of years to go . . . this happened back when Greenspan lowered the discount rate way down, don't remember exactly when).

      >>Obama is in the middle of the greatest crash-course (pun, or no pun?) he's ever had to take. My only hope is that he begins to see with a leader's eye, and comes into his own as a person who has nothing left to convince anyone else of. . . .<<

If it means he starts to implement the stuff he's been talking about doing I'd rather he get cold feet and muddle his way through, at least on his tax and spend and save the planet agendas.

But yes, I'll join you in hoping it works for America's good (no matter how much of a long shot I expect that to be).

    • >>The alias he hid was "Barry Soetero," which indicated he was adopted by an Indonesian, . . .<<
