    Apple missed targets BUT

<Apple Inc. posted a sharp gain in earnings for its third fiscal quarter on Tuesday afternoon, but the company missed Wall Street’s targets as sales of the iPhone fell 26% from the previous period.

    . . .

For the period ended June 30, Apple reported net income of $8.8 billion, or $9.32 per share, compared with net income of $7.3 million or $7.79 per share for the same period the previous year.

    Revenue jumped nearly 23% to $35 billion.>

No wonder Apple insiders have not sold since May 9.

Methinks AAPL is on sale right now, though it may dive further for a better sale price.

I finally got to break away from the project conversations, and was halfway through replying to one of your posts of yesterday, when MarketWatch sent a _devastating_ alert:

<Amazon reports 83% drop in earnings; shares fall late on forecast>

The report at RTT, though, has GOOD details, so you may be looking at a buying opportunity. See what you think:

      >>I'd go with the latter. I doubt there's been much change in prices and so any reason for CDN users to jump ship. Video and the cloud are an ongoing revolution that's only going to get bigger. Akamai is going to get the lion's share.<<

      Another nailbiter.

How fantastically AKAM performed today . . . closed UP 24.04%!!! When I get a chance, I'll peruse its 1-minute Barchart.

      >>So your pressures are all self imposed (the worst kind). Well good luck with the projects.<<

The first project is, so far, in the bag; just final paperwork remaining. The second, so far, is a cliffhanger. They are partly for my financial survival, and partly toward my new house goal. The more $ I can salt away, the nicer house I can buy . . . if eminent domain doesn't become the law(less) of the land after the election.

      Bad thun.ders.torm brewing . . . wa.rnings are widespread, include torn.ado wa.rning.

Did Akamai take business away from Limelight and Level 3? Or did Akamai outperform because of the hugely increased video content and therefore we should expect Limelight and Level 3 to report a commensurate gain?<<

      >>They'll probably get pulled up by Akamai's results.<<

LLNW gained a little (4 shiny pennies, 1.47%) after hours, but LVLT didn't gain even one penny. But when I asked "In this economy, if Akamai performed so outstandingly, what was left for Limelight and Level 3??" I was wondering what revenues were left for Limelight and Level 3 to report. In this economy, could all three have gained so much business? Did Akamai take business away from Limelight and Level 3? Or did Akamai outperform because of the hugely increased video content and therefore we should expect Limelight and Level 3 to report a commensurate gain?

      >>Glad you got to see it . . . but don't get fired.<<

I can't get fired because I don't have a boss this time. :-) I've been working on closing two 'projects' that will be a source of income in the coming several months. One I closed (the one I mentioned a couple days ago), the other I'm still working on. It's entailed hours of back-to-back discussions. If I disappear again this afternoon, that will be the most likely reason.

Almost $580 (3.67%) right now . . . not as bad as I imagined. If only AKAM reacted as mildly.

Raymond James lowered AAPL's target to $750 or something like that. LOL

PE, I'm so frustrated . . . the second half of the business thing I was working on (re)fired up late last night and is continuing today, plus another unexpected thing, so I won't even be around when Akamai reports this afternoon. I think this will be the first time I won't be here for Akamai's ER. I'll have my iPad with me but may not even have a chance to look from where I'll be (I don't know if that semi-remote area has AT&T). Will continue replying tonight, and possibly just before I leave . . . Please keep AKAM from going into its usual routine, 'Nol . . . POSSIBLE hopeful development, AKAM's whisper number increased 8 or 9 cents, I forget exact increase.

    • the amount of cash they have is astonishing.

The company reported that its cash pile rose to $117 billion, an increase of $7 billion during the quarter.
