The numbers are finally out.
HealthSource RI, the Obamacare health insurance exchange, on Tuesday released the prices of the plans it will offer to small businesses and individuals in 2014. Now, a spreadsheet available online reveals an individual’s monthly premium for each plan, based on age.
But anyone looking to make generalizations about costs will have a harder time.
With 12 plans for individuals and 16 for businesses, each varying in the deductibles and co-pays charged, and each different from plans currently offered, it’s hard to say whether prices are going up or down. Most likely, prices will go up for some people and down for others –– but there will be more choices for all.
For example, a 29-year-old buying a plan as an individual will have a choice of 12 plans with monthly premiums ranging from $168 to $316. A 59-year-old will have options ranging from $433 to $735.
The highest allowable out-of-pocket cost is $6,350 for an individual or $12,700 for a family (this figure includes co-pays and deductibles, but not premiums), but some plans cap out-of-pocket costs much lower.
This is the Affordable Care Act???...more like the UnAffordable Care Act..
