OT: Not to raise any false concern or anything but...
Are we going to DIE today or tomorrow? As in..all of us?
" MOSCOW (AP) — A meteor streaked across the sky and exploded over Russia's Ural Mountains with the power of an atomic bomb Friday, its sonic blasts shattering countless windows and injuring about 1,100 people.
The meteor — estimated to be about 10 tons — entered the Earth's atmosphere at a hypersonic speed of at least 54,000 kph (33,000 mph) and shattered into pieces about 30-50 kilometers (18-32 miles) above the ground, the Russian Academy of Sciences said in a statement."
I thought that SUPPOSEDLY this meteor approaching was going to be some harmless event but now it's carrying "atomic bomb" sized companions?
What's the latest? is this just supposed to be some "coincidence"? I don't know about that. I think they just can't see these smaller ones because they sure didn't see this "atomic bomb" sized one coming.
I'm not an astronomer, TS, but my understanding is that really large meteors do not travel alone. Rather, there is the large one (as in, the one that missed and therefore did not destroy most life on the planet), and there are other, smaller meteorites that travel in its wake. Clearly some of these smaller companions are none the less formidable.
Someone with education on this issue is welcome to chime in at this point.
