Oh Fuckin' A Bud! I'd say the general rule of thumb is the S&P will give you annual ave returns of 8-10% over a 10 year time period, and a good fund that you STAY PUT!!!, reinvest dividends, set up your asset allocation based on your time frame and risk tolerace and blah blah blah....Everybody wants to trade, but in reality, you need to figure out, "What is it that I want to do with 'This money'. Do I want to chase 1 year 6% FDIC cd's all day long (good luck until 2010 and beyond) and grow my assets for a 1-5 year time frame, or do i want to be oooohhhhh no risky w/ it. Figure it out, pull the trigger on the trade and keep your long term dollars (10+ years $$$) in S&P 500 or Large Cap Type investments and you'll be fine.
