The 50-day moving average is crossing below the 200-day average. That's the "death cross" but maybe it will only be a temporary cross since the 50-day seems to be flattening out. Not sure what technical indicators really mean anyway. My bet is SAN's fundamentals will improve going forward and the bank has already absorbed the worst hits (I hope!).
Technicals are pretty much meaningless. Occasionally they work, but only because people who trade on technicals pile into a stock (or ETF) a la GLD. Over time, fundamentals will always trump the self-fulfilling prophecies of day traders.
