Wrote to House Speaker Boehner for a Federal Legislation to Apply Sales Tax to all ONLINE Purchases..

Why should AMZN and other onliners have a playing field advantage of 8%-10% for sales made online by NOT charging Sales tax that all brick-and-mortar stores must charge. If this is done, BBY will be in a great shape to compete against AMZN and other onliners. Its about time that the FEDERAL LEGISLATION BE PASSED TO IMPLEMENT THIS.

    • You poopshoot knuckleHEAD! Sales tax will not, does not, INCREASE profitability. It's charged as a pass through to the state(s). Brick and Mortor stores charge it because they have too! They also CHOOSE to build and sell in sales tax states. Is it fair, no not really. But to charge sales tax for online orders and say BBY will be are clueless. What BBY should do, is allow SELLERS to sell on their site! And charge sellers 15% with other surcharges Like AMZN does. AMZN makes their money on the OTHER RE-SELLERS, and Direct Distribution. BBY's way to improve sales would be to partner with AMZN and sell directly like Target does. Yes, that's right, when you buy crap on TGT's website AMZN Fullfills the orders in TGT Boxes! AMZN and TGT both benefit. TAXING PEOPLE IS NOT THE WAY. If BBY closed more stores and FORCED Shoppers to go online they would be better off too. If ONLINE is the way of the future like DIGITAL DISTR./THE CLOUD is, BBY needs to better position themselves, and push people towards Online. Do I approve NO WAY, but it's coming faster than we think. I say sell this down to $12.50 and then buy

    • always wondered what type of person asks for a tax to be implemented. somebody who is self serving and in your case desperate to recover their losses. why do you want to ruin a good thing?

    • Instead of insisting that all consumers be hurt by having to pay even more sales taxes, why don't you take some direct action? Send best buy a personal check for a few thousand dollars to help support the company. Makes you look like less of a hyprocrite.

      • You are an idiot andi I will tell you why. AMZN put Circuit City and Borders out of business. If they and other onliners continue to have this bloody 8%-10% playing field advantage of NOT adding sales tax, then they can put BBY, HHG RSH and Barnes & Noble out of business, and if they move aggressively into selling shoes, pots and pans and household goods, mattresses and even clothing, they pose threats to Kohl, Penneys,. Sears, WSM, BBBY and many more mom and pop stores. If some of them go out of business, Malls will be empty and retail unemployment can skyrocket to 30% or even higher, and if people lose their jobs they wont go to malls and will have No money and this can affect restaurants and movie theatres business and the chain reaction can continue putting the country not in the recession but in depression. Do you get it? May be your job can be in truoble.
