This is why Best Buy fell; reports of Windows 8 sales not good
Best Buy put in significant amount into training and inventory of windows 8 PCs and Surface tablets:
SEATTLE (Reuters) - Consumer sales of Windows-powered personal computers fell 21 percent overall last month, according to a leading retail research firm, indicating a lackluster debut for Microsoft Corp's Windows 8 operating system, which many in the industry had hoped would revive slack PC sales.
Since the launch of Windows 8 on October 26, Windows laptop sales are down 24 percent, while desktop sales are down 9 percent compared with the same period last year, said NPD Group, which tracks computer sales weekly using data supplied by retailers.
Usually a new Microsoft release boosts PC sales, as many consumers hold off from purchases for several months prior so they can get hold of the latest software immediately.-
That's just ridiculous. There are a lot of good reasons why BBY is down, but Windows 8 is certainly not one of the major ones.

I think the execs/managers at BBY expected windows 8 to do a major push for PC sales like all the other windows releases. They spent a considerable amount of training, marketing and inventory and sales has been very disappointing and hit their bottom line. The -4% and more same store sales points this as a contributing factor as Best buy concentrated on this sale and it hasn't panned out. They should have concentrated on cell phone sales.

Why buy a new computer when installing Windows 8 makes your old computer go faster than it ever went, heck my 6 year old notebook is now as fast as my new less than my less than a year old notebook I bought to replace it because it was too slow.
