Detroit it going to relight with new LED street lights.
Here's some info on their plans. Note: There is a local business available to manufacture, stage, and provide any needed services in this streetlighting retrofit.
Here's what you've said, Detroit:
"Public Lighting Authority Executive Director Odis Jones said using LED lights will save the city $2.5 million a year. The authority on Friday issued a request for proposals seeking manufacturers to supply the upgrade.
Jones said in a press release he is committed to utilizing Detroit and Michigan-based businesses where possible. "The manufacturer will be expected to pursue local sourcing of work and utilize Detroit-based businesses in support of this effort wherever practical," he said."
Mr Jones-----The company's name is RELUME---a division of RVLT. Who better to do the job than someone locally who already has plenty of this type of experience. C'mon, Detroit!! Just do what's right.
I have just one question. How is a city in BK going to fund this project or get the BK court to approve it. The BK court MUST approve all spendng first and nobody is going to buy the bonds of a BK city at any interest rate, least not for several years. This would be like a BK company saying they need all new company cars because they would get better gas mileage. The Judge wouldn't allow that. I guess the FEDS might step in is the only way I can see it happening. The idea in BK is to CUT COST not create new debt. Ideas?
You are right RVLT, does have connections in the state. Detroit can construct the bidding requirements so only one company will fit the bill. That's always being done more than you may think.
