What locations are workers in the Northern Division being called back from winter layoffs.

Someone posted that Cumberland, Maryland is starting to call back workers from winter layoffs. Is there any info on the workers up north for example Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan locations.

    • Nothing in Michigan yet that I know of and I know we are in dire need of bodies again. Coal empties and one merchandise train sitting waiting for rested crews here in West Michigan. Crew openings on the boards and pools yet no one can claim them cause they are in furlough status. WELL CALL THEM BACK STUPID! Thats the way they wanna run this place then the trains sit. Damned if I know why...

      • It use to be in March or early April depending on the winter. I don't know if the have furlough boards anymore since the creation of retention boards. It use to be a person could voluntarily place themselves on a furlough board to fill vacancies once the ex board is exhausted. Most people opted to stay furloughed during winter months. Working the furlough board kept insurance intact plus added months to RRB credits that would be lost if not working. Last time I asked most people didn't know they could submit a request to work while furloughed.
