To take or not-take profits on GGR ?

I don't know how many times I have been tempted to sell and take profits on the highs and then hope to buy back on the lows. I'm in @ an averaged cost of $5.46 and each time I considered taking profits and channeling this stock I just hold. I always resisted the temptation and so far this has proved to be a good strategy for me.

I don't want to sell and then have this baby take off and find myself sitting on the sidelines trying to get back in on the next possible low dip that may never come. No -- I'm holding! Good luck longs!

I know the feeling, PianoManBill, know it well. After the 10/24 takedown, and margin got hit, I moved the rest of my "long-term hold" into more 06 call options, so I wouldn't be tempted.

Hadn't done it so far, but, with the apparent couple weeks delay to TD, I took a little (very little) off the short-term table yesterday, to play ABP this week. Didn't sleep so well though. :-P

But, for those thinking along the swing-trade lines, and expecting a pullback, or a short attack, before TD, been thinking the option expiry week might be a good one to project, especially if you think there might be some collusion between shorts, and MMs on the Amex and the options boards.

There's quite a bit (relatively) of open interest on DEC 7.5 calls (and almost none in January), growing daily, so if it would close near or below 7.5, would save somebody (MM) a chunk of change and/or shares in inventory for later call exercises in March, which *will* happen. (I'd be rolling DEC 7.5s at least into JAN, to get the real pop of KG17 TD, and to shift the bulk of taxable gains to 06, anyway. The extra 30-35 cents now will just be taken by the taxman come April.)

    • This is a NIKO in the making but much slower only because of the spike in Hydro carbon prices. Niko was drilling when prices were low and benefitted from the spike after drilling was over. Unfortunately it got hit due to ongoing litigation of U.S based B.D residents after a flared well exploded.
