Why such a large reverse split?

I am just a "country boy",but I am "numbers cruncher".
The size of this reverse split is sooo bizarre that it needs a little discussion.
The insiders are holding 150M shares that they didn't pay for.So if they wanted out,how do you dump so many shares without making the stock worthless? After the split they would end up with only 300,000 at $6.00/share.
Very easy to get out of,but who would buy at that price? Delta Airlines(for example)has billions in assets, one billion in cash, and the stock is only selling for $9.00.
If they are not looking for an exit, can it be that there are so many small share holders that buying out their fractional shares would give them a "windfall"?
Either way, they too are reading these blogs and we may have given them the idea.
