Why did the stock price drop $1.00 a share today (comparedrom the 12/11/12 closed to 12/12/12 close) if the ex-dividend date is not until Friday?
"Why did the stock price drop $1.00 a share today if the ex-dividend date is not until Friday?"
Because the ex-date isn't Friday, it's today. Friday is the record date. Record date and ex-date are two different things.
Nasdaq site has the date - prior closing to the 12th. With a new updated site with a full line of products along with positive earnings coming, consider the special dividend a bonus.
The ex date is 12/14/2012 correct?
Sentiment: Strong Buy
To me the special dividend is a return of capital., the stock price dropped by the dividend. If you reinvest the dividend then the value of your position doesnt change. You just have more shares at a reduced FMV.
I have the same question as johnbyrnes2, but I don't understand the answer..."Nasdaq site has the date - prior closing to the 12th"? What's that mean???
