The news that Chicago mayor Emanuel is pressuring banks to end their lending
to RGR/SWHC is obnoxious, disgraceful use/abuse of power. Listen, I'm a fairly liberal man but this is pushing the limits of what gov. should and should not be involved in. This is open book/ back room dirty politics--Emanuel should face a re-call---- outrageous abuse of power---almost as pitiful as a televangelist
What would happen if a number of citizen groups decided to make it public that they are not going to bring heir convention business to Chicago because its mayor seeks to exert pressure to thwart Constitutional freedoms?
And Emanuel would never face a recall. One would have to break through the Chicago political machine to have any success. If it ever got to a recall, the party and Rahm's thugs would just stuff the boxes to ensure that he remains in power.
With banks stumbling over themselves to put to work all the money the Fed is printing. I think the banks will just ignore Emanuel's requests. And if they do walk then someone else will pick up the relationships in a second.
All Emanuel is doing is trying to deflect attention from the fact that he is totally inadequate in controlling crime in his city. Chicago is the murder capital of the United States. Chicago also has strict gun control. Rather than coming up with workable plans to attack crime and criminals it seems he'd rather try to garner political points with anti-gun folks.
