Carter's management can never quite get it all together. They blame weather, product mix, retail, wholesale, cotton prices, too much inventory, too little inventory, holidays too early or too late, gas prices, the economy, etc. Osh Kosh has been a problem since its takeover, and there is still no solution in sight. Company segment leaders come and go. Always excuses for not hitting on at least seven of eight cylinders. Quarter after quarter, year after year. The only hope seems to be that Berkshire Partners will make a move, clear out management and hire people who have a solid history of retail success.
