    Question

For what i have read, this company has increased sales yr after yr and had an incredible earnings growth due to less expenses.
Do u think this is a sustainable history?

    • Hi,

Here is my take, what is going on with BVX.....:

Bovie Medical Corporation, BVX, is medical equipment manufacturer. Their main product is surgical elecrocautery, a piece of equipment that almost every surgeon is using, every day.....BVX is part of health care service industry, which is consider "defencive" sector....It is NOT cyclical business, and it is NOT affected by oil, or energy price, economic recession, or political events.

      - after yrs of steady, but slow growth, BVX is suddenly showing signs of surging growth, with introduction of new products, and a few more coming out...

-it appears, positive guidance, and new "pipelines" are moving stock up with price, and volumes....

      - main competition is Tyco ( Valley Lab ), and if there is any truth about BVX buyout, Tyco would be a prime buyer....

Fundamental analysis: NO GO, and not very exciting at first look, but future appears very bright...

      1. 83 M cap, float 14 M, PE-85
      2. ROE +10%, ROA +8%, profit margin 5%.....
      3. EPS, and revenue consecutive progress in last four quarters..

      4. some non-significant insiders selling on the beginning of 2006
      5. minimal institutional ownership, but present at 0.73%, 10 institutions, and only buying in last three months, a lot of room to grow......
      6. shorts, practically not an issue

      7. no analysts on board

Last ER Q1 on May 10, revenue + 26%, and net income + 675%. More important were optimistic guidance, and new products coming.......

I am not impressed that 10 customers make 70% of BVX sales, and only one customer is 20%, but international distribution ( over 150 countries ) make me feel better....

      Technical analysis: GO

      1. all "screaming" buy signals are on, appears last 7 days TRUE breakout on 5-10 times average daily volumes, after almost two yrs of CH basing pattern
      2. price bars rule: neutral, but "walking" upper BB band....
      3. all EMA 10, 20, 30, 50, and 200 days are "perfect", up-trending, and one above the other....
      4. CFM green, and A / D show "heavy" accumulation in last two months...

      News: GO

The beauty of present breakout is "silent buying", volumes, and price are up, without ANY news...Somebody knows something?! BVX was significantly up even on days when market was very red, like June 16...Yahoo MB is only about 8 moths old, very serene, no hype, one short ( each board must have one own fool ), and not very informative...Longs are debating buyout rumour, and other posters are asking: "...what is going on?....."

      I can see three reasons for breakout;

      - institutions are moving in, health care service is attractive defencive sector...
      - buyout possibility, not that unreasonable with small cap, money making company, with new products coming....
      - new products are on line coming this year, and more in the future, possible revised guidance for 2006 and 2007....

All of this was enough for me to buy BVX. I am in with average in mid 4s. You would have to do your own research, and homework before any action. For short term traders/investors timing is everything, so you would have to make your own entry/exit/stop points...At present BVX price is "overextended", but I like idea of "buy high, and sell higher..." I have never been afraid to buy at 52 wks high, but always afraid to buy at 52 wks low. Sure, mental stops are "must" just in case I am wrong....

      Good luck

      Dragan
