I would not necessarily say that CAT had a disappointing quarter...just did not meet what analysts thought it should be. Who are these analysts anyway. Do you think they are related to the ones that track Apple? CAT has only missed earnings once in the immediate past. All other quarters have been blowouts. Their guidance then is nothing more that restating what is already in the news (China and Brazil slowing down, etc.) We already knew that, and the analysts should have known that and reacted BEFORE the earnings were reported. Anyone can be great with hindsite data...that is all Analysts use.
Hey Ben, in your opinion, the earnings estimates were too high this time around? I mean take a look around at all the companies that lowered estimates, CAT did not, but this doesn't seem to matter at all today, I think that in a few days or a week, people will come to their senses and realize that CAT knocked the cover off the ball. I am looking for a snap back, CMI reports in early May, so will DE. What do you think? A lot of people are calling for sub $100 this and that, anything can happen I guess but this was not warranted.
you didn't need a confirmation of a china slowdown via CAT --- the data's been there for a few weeks now.
i know it's difficult you to do as a message board tough guy, but just admit you're holding the bag right now, and cut your losses short. the summer's not gonna be kind.
He gave U his definitive answer, stoney,
"China's being goofy." Yeah, that really explains things.
He's already taken a hit from $109 to $102 in the short-term. But that -6% drop is a normal roll for this stock.
You know the truth and you posting falsehood won't change things. If I telling the truth about you is bulling you so be it, you're going to live with it as long as you're on this board. I've never have bashed any trade you made or told you didn't have the right to your opinion. You haven't been doing either.
